OverCharged Electric was founded by entrepreneurs who spent years building service companies — kitchen exhaust cleaning, fire protection, pest control — all sharing a common thread: helping businesses operate more efficiently.
Energy was the obvious next frontier. It's one of the largest line items on any commercial operation, and most businesses are overpaying without knowing it. We started OverCharged to change that.
We work for you. Not the utility. That means the best rate wins, period.
So how do we make money? Providers pay us when you enroll — similar to how a real estate agent is paid by the seller, not the buyer. Our incentive is to find you the best deal, not to push a specific provider.

Co-Founder
Collin
Collin grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas, where a deep appreciation for the outdoors, hard work, and self-reliance took root early. He earned his degree from Sam Houston State University before going on to serve in the United States Air Force, where discipline, accountability, and mission-focused execution became foundational to how he operates today.
After his military service, Collin built his career at the intersection of energy, entrepreneurship, and land stewardship. His path into the energy space was driven by a desire to solve real, tangible problems for business owners. Through his work across deregulated markets, he saw firsthand how complex and often opaque energy procurement had become — and how costly that complexity was for operators focused on running their businesses. Rather than accept the status quo, he set out to simplify it.
That mindset led him to co-found OverCharged Electric, where he brings a strategic, boots-on-the-ground approach to energy advisory. Collin works closely with clients across multiple industries — from restaurant groups to large commercial portfolios — helping them navigate procurement, structure contracts, and take advantage of opportunities in an increasingly volatile energy market.
Beyond energy, Collin is deeply involved in ventures spanning conservation, land management, and outdoor hospitality, reflecting his belief that business and stewardship can — and should — work hand in hand.
At the core of Collin's work is a simple philosophy: cut through the noise, focus on what actually creates value, and help business owners take control of their energy with clarity and confidence.

Thomas Sherman
Thomas grew up in Plano, Texas, where his competitive drive was shaped early through sports and endurance training — a passion that later led him to Ironman distance triathlons. That same determination fueled his professional path, starting on the founding sales team at a Series C startup before making the pivotal decision to leave corporate life and focus on entrepreneurship.
While working with fast-growing companies in tech, Thomas realized he wanted to see the impact he was creating. Helping businesses save money on energy so they can focus on what matters most gave him an avenue to see how his work could directly aid business owners. That pivot led him to co-found OverCharged Electric with his brother-in-law, Collin, building an energy brokerage dedicated to simplifying deregulation for business owners.
At the heart of OverCharged Electric is a clear mission — equip and empower business owners to take control of one of their largest expenses: energy.

Sam Thornal
Sam grew up in the small town of Groesbeck, TX, and worked his way through Baylor University, earning a degree in Computer Science. After starting his career with Ernst & Young Consulting, he followed his entrepreneurial drive to build a private wealth advisory practice and invest in real estate, oil ventures, and service companies.
That drive has since grown into a family of businesses that all share one mission: helping people save money, stay protected, and run more efficiently. From Hood Boss, the leader in kitchen exhaust cleaning, to Boss Fire Protection, keeping businesses safe with fire suppression systems, to Pest Me Off, serving homes and businesses with trusted pest control, and My Tech Pix, a platform that proves quality work through before-and-after photos — each company reflects Sam's focus on value and service.
